Lindsey Zahn P.C. (“Lindsey Zahn P.C.,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website booze.law (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
In short
- We collect website usage information through Google Analytics.
- We collect your email address only if you sign up for our newsletter.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time by writing to [email protected].
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
Newsletter sign-up. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We do not ask for any other information to subscribe.
Messages you send us. If you choose to email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use it to respond to you.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay on them, the website that referred you, your general location (such as city, region, or country), and the type of device, browser, operating system, and screen size you use. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use this information in aggregate form. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not combine Google Analytics data with your email address.
Hosting and security logs. Like most websites, the servers that host the Site automatically record basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the date and time of your visit, and the pages requested. These logs are kept by our hosting provider and are used to operate and secure the Site.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- send our newsletter to subscribers;
- respond to messages you send us;
- understand how the Site is used so we can improve its content and design;
- keep the Site secure and working properly; and
- comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal process, and rules of professional conduct.
3. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use service providers to operate the Site and our newsletter, including Google LLC (analytics), our email newsletter service provider, and our website hosting provider. They may process information on our behalf only to provide their services to us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or that it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lindsey Zahn P.C., our clients, or others.
- Changes to our practice. If Lindsey Zahn P.C. is involved in a merger, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of its practice, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and rules of professional conduct.
4. Cookies and your analytics choices
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can control cookies in several ways:
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. The Site will still work if you do.
- Google offers a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. You can use the options above to limit analytics collection.
5. Our newsletter
We send our newsletter only to people who sign up for it. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing [email protected]. We will honor unsubscribe requests promptly. After you unsubscribe, we may keep your email address on a suppression list solely so that we do not email you again.
6. How long we keep information
- Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, except for the suppression record described above.
- Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
- Messages you send us are kept as long as needed to respond to you and as required by law and our professional obligations.
- Hosting and security logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited time for security and operational purposes.
7. How we protect information
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect, appropriate to the size of our practice and the sensitivity of the information, consistent with New York General Business Law § 899-bb. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a breach of security affects private information as defined by New York law, we will notify affected individuals and the appropriate government authorities as required by New York General Business Law § 899-aa and any other applicable law.
8. Your choices and requests
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may keep certain information where the law or our professional obligations require it.
9. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Links to other websites
The Site links to other websites, including government agencies and news sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
11. No attorney-client relationship
Subscribing to our newsletter, using the Site, or sending us an email does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information to us until we have confirmed in writing that we represent you.
12. Where information is processed
The Site is operated in the United States and is intended for users in the United States. Information we collect is processed and stored in the United States, and our service providers may process it in other countries where they operate.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If we make material changes to how we use newsletter subscribers’ email addresses, we will also notify subscribers by email.
